Bulacan receives Best Performing LGU Award in Cooperative Development

CITY OF MALOLOS The Cooperative Development Authority has recognized the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO) as the Best Performing Local Government Unit (LGU) Cooperative Development Office in Central Luzon during its Gawad Parangal for Cooperatives 2015 held at the Hacienda Gracia Resort, Sta. Maria, Lubao, Pampanga recently.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that it was a great honor for the province to be recognized as the best performing LGU that continues to show exemplary performances and best practices in generating employment through cooperative development and assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises in the province.

Its a great honor to our province. Actually, we are known for the being the Coop Capital of our region and the Provincial Government will continue to support and guide the primary cooperatives, federations and unions to achieve success through capability building, training and seminars and financial and marketing assistance, the governor said.

Meanwhile, Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Officer Cynthia Abiol said that the province was chosen as the recipient of the award because of its complete package of enterprise services and cooperative development programs including the Negosyo Koop Program, Investment Marketing and the services offered by the Bulacan Packaging Service and Toll Packing Center, which is the very first government-run packaging center in the Philippines.

Moreover, the province was also cited as the Best Performing Cooperative Federation while Marilao MCDC received the Best Cooperative Development Council Award.

Different cooperatives in the province was also awarded in the large and micro scale categories including St. Martin of Tours CDC from Bocaue, Bagong Barrio MPC from Pandi, Ligas KBP from Guiguinto, SJDM Savings and Credit and Coop from San Jose Del Monte City, DRT Mt. Sinai from Doa Remedios Trinidad and Alaga Producers from Plaridel.

Gawad Parangal for Cooperatives 2015 is a program of CDA that gives recognitions and awards to the cooperatives with relevant contributions in building cooperative society under the categories of primary, federation and union cooperatives.
