CITY OF MALOLOS – In a bid to intensify its career coaching and labor education for new career advocates, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) conducted a Career Guidance Seminar held at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city, yesterday afternoon.

The said seminar aims to inform the career advocates and students on the key labor market information and government assistance they can access which provides employment guidance in deciding on the right career path.

“Our main goal is to guide the youth in choosing the right career path so when they finally graduated, they can easily find a suitable job based on their respective course and abilities. Sa totoo lang, job mismatch ang ating problema, ang daming graduates na walang trabaho dahil hindi akma sa employment vacancies,” DOLE Bulacan Head May Lynn Gozun said, who spoke in behalf of DOLE III Regional Director Ana Dione.

Guzon said that DOLE Bulacan will continue to intensify its career guidance advocacy to address the challenge of job-skill mismatch and enlighten both students and their parents towards in-demand jobs and emerging industries that will have greater absorptive employment capacity in the next 10 years.
Meanwhile, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado expressed his full support to the labor department in providing career guidance and employment coaching to the youth and job seekers.

“Job mismatch is one of the critical concerns in our labor force and buo ang ating pagsuporta na magbigay ng tulong at gabay sa mga kabataan na makahanap ng trabaho na babagay sa kanilang tinapos. The Provincial Government stand supportive to the aims and visions of DOLE to address job mismatch among Filipinos, most especially among the Bulakenyos,” Alvarado said.

The governor also encouraged professionals to serve as an inspiration to the new career advocates, as well as the parents of the youth to guide them in making informed career decisions for the betterment of their future.

Prior to this, Bulacan received a P3 million check from DOLE for the livelihood starter kits of the graduates who underwent skills training programs provided by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The said seminar was made possible through the joint partnership of PGB, DOLE, Provincial Employment Service Office, Bulacan Career Guidance Advocates Network Inc., and Department of Education.
