Bulacan wins Best Performing LGU in coop development

CITY OF MALOLOS – Another feather was added in the hat of the Provincial Government of Bulacan as the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO) was awarded as the national Best Performing Local Government Unit-Cooperative Development Office (provincial level) by the Cooperative Development Authority during its Gawad Parangal 2016 held at the Makati Shangri-La, Manila in Makati, Metro Manila yesterday.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the province has always been supportive to the cooperative development programs of the province and continuously gives out complete package of enterprise services.

“Sa aking SOPA na isinagawa kamakailan lamang ay ating ibinahagi ang mga ayudang naipagkaloob ng pamahalaan sa mga Bulakenyo sa may 278 kooperatiba o/at asosasyon na nagkakahalaga ng mahigit P18.9 milyon sa ilalim ng Tulong ni Gob sa Negosyoo ng Koop Program (NegosKoop) at loan assistance sa mahigit 200 MSEs na umabot sa P6.98 milyon,” ani Alvarado.

He also added that the Bulacan Packaging Service and Toll Packing Center was able to help more than 800 MSEs/coops in the province.

PCEDO has also conducted trainings and provided management and technical assistance to different cooperatives in the province.

Moreover, cited both as third placers, the San Jose Del Monte Savings and Credit and Coop from the City of San Jose Del Monte was recognized as the Most Outstanding Primary Cooperative for the large scale category while the Bagong Barrio MPC from Pandi was also awarded the same for the medium scale category.

CDA Gawad Parangal Search for Most Outstanding Cooperatives and Best Performing Cooperative Development Partners is an awards and recognition program that covers the following categories: Most Outstanding Primary Cooperatives (Micro, Small, Medium and Large Scale); Best Performing Cooperative Federations and Unions; Best Performing LGU Cooperative Development Offices; Best Performing Cooperative Development Councils; and Most Outstanding Cooperative Leaders.

The province of Bulacan is known for being the “Coop Capital” of the region.
