Good governance, environment projects dominated this year’s GGB winners

CITY OF MALOLOS- The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) honored five outstanding barangay projects which are worth emulating by other communities, three focusing on good governance and the other two on environment in the recently concluded Gawad Galing Barangay (GGB) held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium as part of the celebration of Singkaban Fiesta.

For “Mabuting Pamamahala”, the province recognized as Natatanging Gawaing Barangay the projects of Barangays Bulihan, Plaridel; Graceville, City of San Jose del Monte and Minuyan, Norzagaray while Barangays Bayabas, DRT and Francisco Homes-Yakal, City of San Jose del Monte were distinguished for “Kalinisan at Kapaligiran” projects.

The outstanding barangay project winners received plaques and cash incentive amounting to P200,000.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado also said that as the chief executive of the province, he believes that empowering the barangays will greatly contribute to the success of the whole province and that programs as such can also be emulated by others to inspire their communities as well.

Meanwhile, GGB also feted outstanding public servants including Brgy. Capt. Jerry M. Cenal of Minuyan, Norzagaray as Natatanging Punong Barangay; Councilor June C. Sta. Ana of Bulac, Santa Maria as Natatanging Kagawad; Ronaldo T. Reyes of Sta. Clara, Santa Maria as Natatanging Ingat-Yaman; and Analisa M. Ganacial of Graceville, City of San Jose Del Monte as Natatanging Kalihim.

They received plaques and cash incentive amounting to P50,000 for the Natatanging Punong Barangay and P20,000 for the rest of Natatanging Lingkod Bayan winners.

The chosen volunteer workers and group also received plaques and cash incentive amounting to P20,000 including Enrico s. Urbano for Natatanging Barangay Tanod, Angielin C. Sioson for Natatanging Barangay Training and Employment Coordinator and Maria Q. Delos Reyes for Natatanging Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon, all from Lias, Marilao; Judith Catherine M. Nolasco from Tabang, Plaridel for Natatanging Mother Leader; Luciana S. Dulaca from Malibong Bata, Pandi for Natatanging Barangay Health Worker; and Konsehong Pambayan Para sa Kababaihan (KPK) of Poblacion, Norzagaray as Natatanging Volunteer Group.

GGB is said to be the local counterpart of the prestigious Galing Pook Award, which annually recognizes outstanding LGU programs in the country.###
