CITY OF MALOLOS –Bulacan Vice Governor Daniel Fernando was hailed as the 2012 Most Outstanding Public Servant in the 11th Gawad America Awards (GAA) held at the Celebrity Centre Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA recently.

The award was conferred by the Gawad America Foundation (GAF), a non-profit organization based in California, USA which honors the accomplishments of young achievers and exemplary citizens who make a difference in their lives and in their communities.

According to the foundation, Fernando’s success and remarkable achievements has been recognized not only by the foundation, but also by the local communities in the USA.

Fernando was awarded for his sincere efforts and worthy endeavors to help his fellowmen and one of these is the Damayang Filipino project that gives the poor and deserving Bulakenyos capital to start over a small business without expecting something in return.

“Masarap sa pakiramdam kapag nakakatulong ka hindi dahil tungkulin mong tumulong kundi dahil gusto mong makatulong, and it gives me so much happiness being recognized, not because I want to brag the award, but because, through this, I can still serve as a model and inspiration to others,” Fernando said.

Other awardees were Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senator Nene Pimentel, Congressman Manny Pacquiao, and Vice Mayor Isko Moreno.

Moreover, the vice governor also received awards such as the Most Outstanding Vice Governor, Exemplary Public Service, Foremost Advocate of Good Government and Best Provincial Official of the year in 2011 given by the Press-Media Affairs Center (PMAC).

Fernando started his political career as the Federation President of the Lakas ng Kabataan sa Bulacan, elected twice as Senior Board Member representing the second district of Bulacan until he reached his present post being Bulacan’s second in command.

The GAF was founded by its chairman of the board, leader and a visionary Charles Simbulan who has a strong and dynamic vision of helping and cultivating the talents of young Filipino-American achievers who lack the necessary resources to follow their dreams. The foundation also provides help to many struggling Filipino-American families with socio-economic opportunities that enable them to live with dignity and decent lives. ###
