Bulacan receives P8.5 M grant from DOLE

CITY OF MALOLOS— The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) region III has awarded P 5.5 million for the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) and P 3 million for the livelihood program of the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Art, Culture and Tourism Office (PYSEACTO) head Elisabeth Alonzo said that the awarding happened as part of the opening ceremony of the job fair with the theme, “Trabaho para sa mga Bulakenyo” at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium recently.

She added that the P 5.5 million grants is the counterpart of DOLE for the salaries of youths who will join the SPES or summer job program during the upcoming vacation season. The P 3 million grant for the livelihood program includes 12 negokart for PYAP and five for OFWs, materials and kits to start a business, and other form of assistance for those who undergo skills training such as reflexology, food processing, soap making and others.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that they are very thankful for the undying support and assistance that DOLE provides for the province.

“We hope that the partnership that we have with DOLE will become stronger as we make Bulacan an engine for economic growth by providing job opportunities and entrepreneurial development to all Bulakenyos,” the governor added.

DOLE awarded four sets of computer to the municipalities of Obando, Pandi and San Miguel and the city of San Jose del Monte for the 4th Wave Implementation of Skills Registry System which aims to create a profile of the skills and potentials of the Bulakenyos in barangay level. ###
