Bulacan bagged 281 medals in CLRAA

CITY OF MALOLOS- Bulacan athletes successfully bagged 281 medals placing Bulacan as the overall champion for the 22nd time in the 2013 Central Luzon Regional Athletics Association (CLRAA) held at Tarlac City Plazuela, Tarlac City last March 17-22.

The 399 elementary and secondary Bulakenyo athletes took home 114 gold, 87 silver and 80 bronze medals.

Bulacan garnered 562.17 points followed by Pampanga with 333.67 points, third is Bataan with 290.17 followed by Tarlac City and Olongapo City with 247.17 and 208.67 points respectively which composed the top five overall.

The sports events that Bulacan championed includes table tennis, arnis, badminton, taekwondo, volleyball, lawn tennis, swimming, boxing, chess, athletics, basketball and softball.

Aside from medals, the Bulakenyo athletes also received plaques and cash prizes.

Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the Provincial Government of Bulacan will continue to strengthen and elevate the skills of the athletes in all of the sports events.

“May mga trainings tayo na naka-schedule para sa mga atleta natin upang siguraduhin na magtuluy-tuloy pa ang pagiging kampeon ng ating lalawigan,” Alvarado said.

Meanwhile, Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office Head Elizabeth Alonzo said that aside from being the overall champion, Bulacan was also awarded as the Most Disciplined Team in CLRAA.

“Pinatunayan ng Bulacan na ‘di lang tayo sa sports magaling kundi maganda rin ang ating pag-uugali,” Alonzo added.

All of the outstanding athletes who won first place in their respective sports events in CLRAA will represent the region in the Palarong Pambansa to be held in Dumaguete City on April 22-26 of this year.###
