As of June 2013, the PPHO reported 906 suspected dengue cases in the province with two cases of mortality as compared to 1,650 suspected dengue cases during the same period last year.

Jocelyn Gomez, PPHO head said.

Gomez said that included in the top five cities and municipalities with most number of dengue cases are the cities of San Jose del Monte, Meycauayan and Malolos and the towns of Sta. Maria and Plaridel.

PPHO also reported that 16 died of dengue last year.

DOH authorities urged the public, communities, local officials, private organizations, business, schools, church and the media to help promote the campaign for the massive participation of the stakeholders which could lead to massive decrease of dengue cases in the province for the dengue awareness month this June.

The ASEAN Dengue Day is an annual advocacy campaign day for dengue prevention and control at the regional and national level. On ASEAN Dengue Day, the ten ASEAN countries, including Singapore, join hands to advocate dengue prevention to combat the rise of dengue in the region.###
