CITY OF MALOLOS – For the first time, Bulacan will hold the 11th Central Luzon Regional Scout Jamboree from December 11-15, 2013 at the Royal Northwoods Golf and Residential Estates in Coral na Bato, San Rafael.

Approximately 8,000 boy scouts and their leaders are expected to participate in the said event.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that efforts in preparation for the jamboree started as early as September this year.

The governor added that the Jamboree aims to teach and show the scouts the way of life out of their comfortable zone or far away from the city life. However, the Provincial Government of Bulacan also prepared the physical arrangement that includes installation of tents, sound system, tarpaulins, and flaglets in the area. They also prepared the materials needed for jamboree activities.

“Nagpadala din tayo ng medical team at nakipag-ugnayan sa PNP para masiguro ang kaligtasan at kalusugan ng mga boy scout,” Alvarado said.

Also, the Provincial Public Affairs Office will produce the JamboBalita, the official publication of the jamboree.

Meanwhile, the municipality of San Rafael for their part prepared the Camping Site, Comfort Rooms and Shower Rooms, Mess Hall, Activity Areas, Jambo Market, additional security and other needs of the delegation from different provinces in the region.

Alvarado believes that programs like this will help improve the skills and knowledge of the youth and contribute to the betterment of the province in the future.

“Itinuturo natin sa mga bata kung paano maging laging handa, kung paano ang gagawin nila kung may darating na ‘di inaasahan, mga emergency, lalo na sa panahon ngayon na ang dami-daming dumarating na sakuna, mas mabuti nang naihahanda na ang isip ng mga bata kung paano magtiis at magsikap,” Alvarado said.

Among the activities included in the five-day jamboree are workshop and seminar about first aid; tree planting activity with lecture, discussion on backwoods cooking and self defense (arnis). Further, the scouts will showcase their talents in their Scout’s Got Talent and Skills Competition in the Jambo Fiesta and participate in the most awaited Grand Camp Fire. ###
