Bulacan conducts Health Summit 2014

CITY OF MALOLOS - As healthcare costs and needs continue to rise, the Provincial Government of Bulacan feels a sense of urgency to show the unity of the province as it brings together some 716 participants from different sectors to join the Bulacan Health Summit 2014 to improve the delivery of basic health services and the health of Bulakeños come February 6, 2014 at the Hiyas Pavilion, in this city.

According to the Provincial Public Health Office, the health summit aims to present and understand the provincial health situation, share practices that worked in the province, discuss the strategic interventions needed to address the health gaps and strengthen partnerships among the different sectors toward a sustainable health program.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the summit will call to sustain and continuously strengthen partnership thru dialogues and actions between and among members of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), Department of Health and partners by building on the gains of programs under the Universal Health Care Strategy and empower and capacitate mayors and LGU health providers.

“We also call to practice resourcefulness para masiguradong natutugunan ang mga pangangailangang pangkalusugan sa Bulacan, hindi palaging maidadahilan na walang pondo, ibig sabihin hahanap tayo ng mga alternatibong paraan at programa para maibigay ang serbisyong kailangan ng mamamayan,” Alvarado added.

In the said event, the ‘Go 4 Health’, a project promoting healthy lifestyle with four “S” or the ‘Go Smoke free’, ‘Go Sigla’, ‘Go Sustansya’, and ‘Go Slow’ sa tagay will also be launched.

Also, there will be a signing of the joint commitment (LMP Continuing Program on Health) headed by LMP-Bulacan Chapter President Mayor Enrico Roque of Pandi to wrap up the program.

DOH Asec. Eric Tayag, Dir. Leonita Gorgolon, and Bulacan Congressmen are expected to grace the event.

Among the participants who will join the summit are representatives from Sangguniang Bayan with committee on health, public and private hospitals, Soroptimist, CSO, Jaycees, PKKB, PAMET, Kapisanan ng mga Dentista sa Bulacan, BSIA, PhilHealth, Barangay Health Workers, DILG, PNP, DepEd and some PGB employees.

The Bulacan Health Summit is a joint effort of the PGB, LMP and the DOH. ###
