CITY OF MALOLOS - In a bid to unite the people of Bulacan in prayer and solidarity, predominantly the spiritual support amid the issue of a possible Angat Dam break and to convey the plea to the national government for immediate action relative to its rehabilitation and preservation, the Provincial Government of Bulacan will hold a prayer rally come February 7, 2014 at 2:00 in the afternoon at the Mini-Forest, Bulacan Capitol compound in this city.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that after the observance of the National Day of Prayer wherein the province has joined last January 20, Bulacan is eager to hold a bigger rally that will convene more than 7, 000 Bulakenyos to pray for its safety.

“Kasabay ng mga ginagawa nating paghahanda, nais nating sabayan ito ng sama-samang pagdarasal dahil iba ang kapangyarihan nito at nais nating marinig tayo ng national government at ng mga ahensyang may kinalaman sa Angat dam para bilisan ang pagkilos at maiwasan ang posibilidad ng pagkasira nito na maaaring sumira sa lalawigan at kumitil ng maraming buhay,” the governor said.

Alvarado also said that the prayer rally with fasting (voluntarily) will start with a prayer walk from Mc Arthur Highway to Centro Escolar University to mini-forest and will be followed by a holy mass at 3:00 pm. The program proper will start immediately after the mass.

The prayer rally will be attended by local officials, students from CEU, BulSU, BPC, La Consolacion University, veterans, Boy/Girl Scouts, OSCA, DepEd, the Four Pillars of Bulacan namely Baptist, Cadence, Interfaith of Bulacan, AVFB and other denominations such as Catholic, Iglesia ni Cristo, BMACC and Jesus is Lord.

Guest speakers Bro. Eduardo Villanueva, Spiritual Director of JIL Church and Dr. Bienvenido Abante Jr., Minister of Gospel, Metropolitan Bible Baptist Church and Ministries will give their messages about Responsibilities of Bulakenyos relative to Angat Dam and Moral Values of Bulakenyos respectively.

One of the highlights of the prayer rally will be the community singing of “Lord, Heal our Land” to be performed by singer Rico Castro with Himig ng Bulakenyo.

Experts have said that Angat Dam is nestling along the West Valley Fault Line and can collapse if jolted by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake.###
