CITY OF MALOLOS - More than 700 Bulakenyos supported the Department of Health’s campaign towards having a healthy lifestyle.

In the recently concluded Bulacan Health Summit at the Hiyas Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city, hundreds of Bulakenyos gracefully danced with Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and DOH Asec. Eric Tayag to promote the importance of exercise in attaining a healthy body.

“Kami ay natutuwa sapagkat ang Bulacan ay Go for Health. Masipag po kami kung ang lalawigan tulad ng Bulacan ay mas masipag pa sa DOH. Hindi ko ‘to sasabihin dahil nasa Bulacan ako, pero dito lang ako nakakita ng ganito kalaking summit,” Dr. Tayag said.

Tayag explained that they dance not to entertain but to encourage the public to exercise, too.
Alvarado said that everyone can also become ambassadors of healthy living.

“May mga bagay na maaaring maging katugunan dito, maglinis tayo ng kapaligiran at katubigan at magtanim tayo ng mga puno at halaman. With discipline, everything good will follow. Maikli lang ang panahon, we have to do what is best. Let us be responsible,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, in a message sent by DOH Sec. Enrique Ona, he said that the department is recognizing the efforts of everyone who is helping to promote awareness about Kalusugang Pangkalahatan (KP).

Further, Sec. Ona announced that 80 percent or 78 million Filipinos are already members of PhilHealth and 9,500,000 more will be added this year.

The ‘Go 4 Health’ Project which promotes healthy lifestyle summed up as “4S” or the ‘Go Smoke free’, ‘Go Sigla’, ‘Go Sustansya’, and ‘Go Slow sa Tagay’ was also launched.

After the launching, Dr. Jocelyn Gomez, Public Health Officer reported the health status in Bulacan using the score card from DOH and followed by the presentation of Atty. Alexander Padilla, President and CEO of PhilHealth regarding the Philhealth Point of Care program about premiums and benefits that a member has to know.

The DOH also distributed health score card for the province and to each municipality in Bulacan.
One of the highlights of the program was the signing of the joint commitment (LMP Continuing Program on Health) by Alvarado, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando, DOH Regional Director Leonito Gorgolon, LMP-Bulacan Chapter President Mayor Enrico Roque of Pandi, and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Each city and municipality was also given the opportunity to present their health status. ###
