Bulakenyo artists show off their talents

CITY OF MALOLOS - A number of Bulakenyo artists will showcase their talent in singing and dancing as the Provincial Government of Bulacan stages “Bulakenyo Ako! Pinagmamalaki ko! Konsierto ng mga Artistang Bulakenyo” in line with the celebration of Philippine Arts Festival 2014 on February 26, 2014 at 2:00 in the afternoon in Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

With the theme "Art on the Edge", Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said eight talented Bulakenyo singers, folk dance groups, choirs and a band will entertain the concert goers.

“Bukod sa pakikibahagi sa National Arts Month, sa pamamagitan ng konsierto na ito ay maipapakita at maipagmamalaki natin sa lahat kung ano ang meron tayong mga Bulakenyo. Isa itong patunay na anumang larangan, lalo na sa arts ay nangunguna ang ating lalawigan,” said Alvarado.

The solo performers on the said concert are composed of Lara Lavinia, Melbelyn Caluag, and Rodolfo Arellano while the group performers include Barasoain Camerata, Bulacan State University (BulSU) Saringhimig Chorale and Hiyas ng Bulacan Brass Band.

Furthermore, BulSU Lahing Kayumanggi Dance Troupe and Sining Bulakenyo will also present their superb performances of folk dances.

Coincides the event is the opening of “Kilalanin si Amang”, an exhibit that will display the visual and literary works of Pedro Cruz-Reyes Jr. also known as Jun “Amang’ Cruz-Reyes, a Bulakenyo award winning literary writer, visual artist and college professor from Hagonoy, Bulacan.

“Kilalanin si Amang” exhibit will run from February 26 to March 5, from 8am-5pm at Gat Blas F. Ople Sentro ng Kabataan, Sining at Kultura Museum in this city.

The celebration of National Arts Month every February is in accordance with Presidential Proclamation 683 signed in 1991. ###
