Bulacan PDRRMO spearheads evacuation camp management training

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of the Provincial Government of Bulacan leads the local government units as it conducted a two-day Evacuation Camp Management Training last June 10-11, 2014 at Balagtas Hall Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the event aims to enhance the understanding of participants on the concepts and principles of good camp coordination and management.

He also stressed the importance of partnerships among agencies in the preparation, recovery and rehabilitation, prevention, and mitigation of damage for affected families and areas in events of future disasters.

“Sa pagsasanay na ito, magiging dalubhasa ang ating mga kinatawan para sa tiyak at kapaki-pakinabang na pagtugon. Ang ating mga mamamayan na biktima ng kalamidad ay mabibigyan ng pag-asang makabangon agad sa sinapit na kalamidad, the governor said.

The training proper include Understanding Hazards and Disaster, Risk Assessment, Republic Act 10121 and Incident Command System (ICS), Emergency Response Concepts, Assessment and Reporting, Psychosocial Support Program, Relief Management, Emergency Sanitation, and Nutrition and Disease.

Participants from town and city DRRMCs, health offices, police office, DSWD, Philippine Army, Philippine Red Cross, Bulacan Rescue and other concerned offices and organizations are expected to develop plans in improving its services at the evacuation centers. They also come up with a camp design for every city and municipality.

"Sapagkat higit kailanman ang kaligtasan ng ating mga mamamayan ang ating isinasaalang-alang, isa ito sa mga pangarap ng inyong lingkod sa lalong ikasisikhay ng ating pamamahala sa mga Bulakenyo," the governor said.

Meanwhile, Bulacan is vying for Hall of Fame Award in the Gawad Kalasag Award which recognizes and rewards civilian and government individuals and organizations for humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and self-help or voluntary efforts to protect high-risk communities against disasters. ###
