Bulacan recognizes outstanding projects and barangay officials

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Planning and Development Office recognized the outstanding barangay projects, officials, and volunteer workers from the province’s 569 barangays in the Gawad Galing Barangay 2014 held at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city earlier today.

Out of the 11 finalists, five were awarded the Outstanding Barangay Project including Santa Catalina Bata, San Ildefonso; Graceville, City of San Jose del Monte and Sto. Tomas, Santa Maria for Good Governance; the project From Womb to Tomb: Service Beyond Boundaries of Camias, San Miguel; and the Malinis na Kapaligiran, Maaliwalas na Pasyalan of Bayabas, DRT.

The winners took home P200,000 while the trailblazers got P50,000 and a plaque of appreciation each.

For barangay officials, Capt. Melencio Garcia of Graceville, City of San Jose del Monte won as the Outstanding Barangay Captain and received P50,000 and a plaque of appreciation. Meanwhile, Irene Bernabe of Matictic, Norzagaray was hailed as Outstanding Kagawad; Eufrocina Gino Cruz, the Outstanding Secretary and Daisy delos Santos, Outstanding Treasurer both from Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria. They took home P20,000 and a plaque of appreciation each.

The City of Motorcycle Action and Response Organization or CMARON won as the Outstanding Volunteer Group and received P50,000 and a plaque of appreciation.

As Outstanding Volunteer Workers, Vilma Oronce of San Miguel, Calumpit was recognized as the Outstanding Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon; Ma. Sevilla Laderas from San Isidro, Hagonoy won as Outstanding Barangay Training and Employment Coordinator or BTEC; Josefina Alberto of San Roque, Hagonoy was hailed as Outstanding Mother Leader; Jennifer Ignacio of Paco, Obando was awarded as the Outstanding Barangay Health Worker; and Elsiver Vidallo of Sto. Niño, Hagonoy, is this Replica Watches Sale year’s Outstanding Barangay Tanod.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that once again, the recognition and respect for the smallest unit of government was celebrated to award the outstanding performance of community officials and volunteers in fulfilling their mandates which left a mark in the history of efficient and effective barangay governance.

“Bagaman pinakamaliit ng yunit ng pamahalaan, sila naman ang pinakamarami at sa dami nilang sumasagwan sa iisang ritmo ng mabuting pamamahala sa lansangan ng tuwid na landas, alam po nating basta sama-sama, mararating natin ang minimithi nating hantungan na kaaya-aya,” Alvarado said.

Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino, the event’s guest of honor, said that Bulacan is important to Manila.

“Kailangan po ng Metro Manila ang Bulacan, hindi lang dahil sa tubig, kundi dahil sa human resources. Mahalaga po kayo sapagkat kayo ang simbolo ng direkta at bukas na uri ng demokrasya. Hindi lamang ito paligsahan, ipinapakita rin dito ang isang malikhaing panunungkulan. Dalangin ko po na ang mga binhing inyong itinatanim ay maingatan at lubos na maalagan upang sila ay lumaki at magbunga, magdulot ng malawakang pagbabago hindi lamang sa inyong mga barangay kundi maging sa lalawigan ng Bulacan,” Tolentino said.

Meanwhile, Capt. Garcia expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and award given by GGB.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa GGB at sa aking co-finalists dahil marami kaming natutunan sa isa’t isa na pwede naming gayahin at gawin din sa aming mga kani-kanyang barangay,” Garcia said. ###
