Bulacan hopes to achieve a TB-free province

CITY OF MALOLOS – In order to achieve a TB-free province, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through the Provincial Public Health Office is challenged to lower all cases of tuberculosis in the province through the involvement of all sectors.

Anchored on the theme “STOP TB! Hanapin, Gamutin, Pagalingin”, the PGB together with the Bulacan Multi-sectoral Alliance for TB Control will lead the celebration of Lung Month, tomorrow, August 18, 2015 at 9:00 am at the Baliwag Municpal Gym.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy- Alvarado said that providing quality health services is part of his 7-Point Agenda and it adheres to the vision of the PPHO to provide readily available health services that are accessible to Bulakenyos.

“The activity primarily aims to strengthen public–private partnership in control of TB in the province by localizing the multi-sectoral alliance to the municipal and city levels that would serve as other arm of the health sector to improve the TB program through sharing of expertise, people and resources,” Alvarado explained.

According to the PPHO, by combining all efforts from private providers, academe, local and international NGOs, vulnerable groups, jails, and the unwavering support of local chief executives (LCEs), the TB program will surely reach the next level of implementation.

The activities lined up for the kick off ceremony of the Lung Month celebration includes a fun walk followed by a short program wherein a signing of Executive Order for the creation of Local Multi-sectoral Alliance in the Municipalities of Paombong, Calumpit, Plaridel, Baliwag, San Ildefonso and San Miguel will be held as well as the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between LCEs and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) on Community-Based TB control project in the province of Bulacan.

Dir. Leonita P. Gorgolon, DOH-Regional Office III is expected to grace the event.

The said event is in cooperation with the municipality of Baliwag, Research Institute of Tuberculosis – Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association Philippines, Inc. or the RIT-JATA, Inc. and Innovations and Multi-sectoral Partnerships to Achieve Control of Tuberculosis (IMPACT).
