The signing of the manifesto signified the support of the province to the ongoing peace talks between the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) headed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Alvarado said that everyone should be involved and interested in making a peaceful community a part of their goals not only during the holiday season but throughout the year.

“Walang bansang umunlad ng walang kapayapaan, inaatasan tayo ng ating pangulo na suportahan ang kanyang adhikain, maaaring masalimuot, may mga bagay na ‘di natin maunawaan, pero iisa po ang layunin, gusto n’ya ay kasaganaan ng mga mamamayang Pilipino na may dignidad, nirerespeto,” Alvarado said.

The governor together with Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando, board members and mayors in every municipality in the province also pledged their support to the said peace talks.

Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Rolly de Leon from Meralco Village, Lias, Marilao shared his thoughts on, “War and Peace: Understanding Peace in our current context” during the forum.

“Ang kapayapaan na tinutukoy natin ay hindi lamang walang labanan, sigalot o sagupaan, ang sinasaad ng Bibliya ay complete, whole and full life ng bawat tao,” de Leon said.

In addition, Mr. Danilo Ramos, secretary general of Unyon ng mga Manggagawa sa Agrikultura, discussed for his part the state of farmers and agriculture in our country and Comprehensive Agreement on Socio-Economic Reforms (CASER).

“Kami sa UMA ay nagpapasalamat sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan sa pagpapatibay ng isang resolusyong sumusuporta sa usapang pangkapayapaan ng NDFP, GRP, ang Res. No. 337 s 2016. Itaguyod natin ang pagsasakatuparan ng pangmatagalang kapayapaan na nakabatay sa katarungan, just and lasting peace at resolbahin ang ugat ng armadong labanan,” Ramos said.

The forum was initiated through the effort of Unyon ng mga Manggagawa sa Agrikultura (UMA) which aims to disseminate information and increase the awareness of Bulakenyos on the importance of successful peace talks between the NDFP and the GRP.
