CITY OF MALOLOS- In a bid to promote a healthy constituency, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado will give Bulakenyos a triple health treat on September 9, second day of the culminating week of the monthlong Singkaban Fiesta.

In this day, anchored on the governor’s health development thrust, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB), through its project “Happy ang TODA Family sa Libreng PhilHealth ni Gob. Willy”, will award Philhealth cards to about 1, 200 members of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) in an afternoon program at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

Alvarado said the distribution of medical insurance to cover the whole family is one way of protecting and securing the health and wellness of our road heroes, by minimizing or unloading them of medical costs in cases of hospitalization.

The two other health-related activities are co-sponsored by private organizations.

The Bulacan Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., together with City/Municipal Association of Health Officers in Bulacan and PGB Doctors, will sponsor a Medical Mission at Hiyas Pavilion, to benefit at least 1,500 Bulakeños who want to take advantage of free check-ups, consultations and medicines.

Also, about 60 Bulakeños with harelip and cleft palate will have their chance to be screened for a free operation in Baliwag District Hospital as part of the project “Ngiti Mo, Sagot Namin” sponsored by the Philippine Band of Mercy.

Meanwhile, in a different twist, the Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts and Culture Office will host a competition to revive Kundiman, Balagtasan at Sayaw with the theme evolving on health as well. This is open to elementary and high school, both private and public. ###
