Projects on good governance dominate this year’s Gawad Galing Brgy winners

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) recently feted five model projects initiated in the barangays that are worth emulating by other communities, four focusing on good governance and one on reform in the government.

For “Mabuting Pamamahala”, the province recognized Barangays Camias, San Miguel; Graceville, City of San Jose Del Monte; Lias, Marilao; and Matictic, Norzagaray while Tangos, Baliwag was recognized for its “Reporma sa Pamamahalaan” project.

The said outstanding projects were recognized as Natatanging Gawaing Barangay in the recently concluded Gawad Galing Barangay (GGB) held at the Hiyas Pavillion as part of the celebration of Singkaban Fiesta.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said they are among this year’s most effective and efficient community projects, and hoped that they will inspire other local leaders to adopt or develop similar features of the winning entries.

Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano, the guest of honor, joined Governor Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando in the awarding of plaques and cash incentive amounting to P200,000.

Aside from these outstanding programs, the PGB also conferred trailblazer award to Guyong, Sta. Maria with an entry on Good Governance and Francisco Homes Yakal, City of San Jose Del Monte for Ecological Solid Waste Management. They also received plaques and cash incentive of P50,000.

Meanwhile, GGB also bestowed awards to outstanding individuals including Barangay Capt. Melencio Garcia of Graceville in the City of San Jose Del Monte for Natatanging Punong Barangay; Coun. Rommel Bayombon of Tigbe from Norzagaray for Natatanging Kagawad and Sec. Analisa Ganancial of Graceville from the City of San Jose Del Monte for Natatanging Kalihim.

They received plaques and cash incentive amounting to P50,000 for the Natatanging Punong Barangay and P20,000 for the rest of Natatanging Lingkod Bayan winners.

The chosen volunteer workers and group also received plaques and cash incentive amounting to P20,000 including Victoriano Quatchon of Graceville, City of San Jose Del Monte for Natatanging Barangay Tanod; Rosario Mariano of Bambang, Bulakan for Natatanging Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon; Angelita Villaflor of Sta. Monica, Hagonoy for Natatanging Barangay Health Worker; Ana Liza Roberto of Bahay Pare, Meycauayan for Natatanging Barangay Training and Employment Coordinator (BTEC); and Rescue 117 of San Isidro, Paombong for Natatanging Volunteer Group. ###
