Bulacan launches Summer Youth Program 2011

CITY OF MALOLOS- More than 1,000 Bulakenyo youths will get summer jobs through the Special Program for the Employment of Students for the months of April and May as part of the Summer Youth Program (SYP) 2011 led by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado.

For students aging 15 to 25 years old, summer jobs are available through referrals from the Provincial Government where in their salary will come from the company or local government (60%) and DOLE (40%) in order to meet the minimum wage requirement.

Moreover, SYP also includes the Take the LEAD! Seminar (Leadership Enhancement and Alliance Development) which will be attended by the provincial Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation chairman, 24 city and municipal SK presidents, and 569 barangay SK presidents of the entire province.
A Summer Sports Clinic which teaches swimming, badminton, chess, aikido, arnis, lawn tennis, taekwondo, gymnastics, and dance sport will also be open.

For young artists and performers, Panday Sining sa Tag-araw gives basic training for students who would like to join the KBS (Kundiman, Balagtasan at Sayaw) competition on Singkaban Fiesta, offers advance training for former participants and opens Musmusikahan for music enthusiasts.

To make it easier for the youths to get a job, Phil-JobNet ID Registration which is an on-line job matching system was developed and enhanced, and community-based skills trainings such as massage therapy, beauty care, cellphone repair, food processing, and candle and soap making seminars are made available.

“Kakaiba ang bakasyong ito para sa ating mga kabataan, dahil bukod sa masisiyahan na sila, may pagkakataon pa silang matuto ng iba’t ibang kaalaman at makaipon ng pera para sa susunod na pasukan sa paaralaan,” said Gov. Alvarado. ###
