Bulacan hosts 1st Bulacan water search and rescue simulation exercises

CITY OF MALOLOS - The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDDRMC) thru its Bulacan Rescue has successfully launched the first Simulation Exercise on Water Search (WaSar) and Rescue held at Santiago Guerrero Resort in Subic, Zambales on May 19-20, 2011.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, chairman of the council said that the simulation exercise aims to hone and enhance the techniques and knowledge of the City/Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (C/MDRRMC) Rescue teams in the province as well as the proper usage of rubber boat and jetski.

Also, the said activity aims to develop camaraderie and good relationship among the teams.

Liz Mungcal, executive officer of PDDRMC said that more than 90 participants from 14 municipalities in the province participated on the said exercise.

Aside from WaSaR simulation exercise, other topics were also tackled like water safety, boat and outboard motor handling, predetermined victims and rescue team scenarios, as well as life saving techniques.

Also, representatives from the Office of Civil Defense Region 3 and Olongapo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council graced the event to show support and to observe. ###
