Bulacan intensifies disaster preparedness

CITY OF MALOLOS - In line with the observance of Disaster Consciousness Month this July, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) will increase the level of public awareness and disaster preparedness of Bulakenyos to prevent its adverse effects.

Dubbed as, “Makialam, Makiisa. Sa Pagsugpo sa Panganib May Maitutulong Ka”, the line up activities aim to hone the skills of the rescue teams in addressing calamity situations.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado thanked all those who continuously support the said activities.

Come July 12, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office will execute an earthquake drill wherein delegates from the local government units from Central Luzon will come to observe.

According to the Office of the Civil Defense Region 3, Bulacan was chosen as the pilot province for the said drill.

Meanwhile, on July 21, the PGB will conduct the First Bulacan Rescue Olympics/Simulation Exercise to be held at the Bulacan Sports Complex where big prizes await the winners.

Aside from the provincewide information dissemination, consultation meeting at National Power Corporation and orientation at School Hydrological Information Network (SHINE), participants will also be oriented regarding Republic Act 10121 or the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 during the Coordinators Summit.

Moreover, PDRRMC with non government agencies and other national agencies, will hold various trainings on First Aid, Basic Life Support-CPR, Water Safety and Fire Suppression. These trainings will enhance the skills and knowledge of the response teams in different Life Saving Techniques. ###
