CITY OF MALOLOS – Heavy rains didn’t dampen the spirit of the hundreds of Bulakenyos who participated in the launching of the first-ever “Fishtahan sa Bulacan 2011, Araw ng Yamang Palaisdaan” at the mini forest of the capitol grounds here yesterday.

The event was spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Bulacan in partnership with the Integrated Services for the Development of Aquaculture (ISDA).

In response to the fish kill issue and to give aid to the local fishermen of the province, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado fully supported the said celebration to boost the aquaculture industry in the province.

“Sa lalawigan ng Bulacan walang nagtitinda ng double dead sapagkat tayo ay nanghuhuli sa bisa ng panlalawigang kautusan, na bukod tanging tayo lang ang meron sa buong bansa,” Alvarado stressed.

He also encouraged his fellow Bulakenyos to support the cause of the event to pave way for the improvement of the aquaculture industry.

“We must be proud, tulad ng pagmamalaki natin sa ating kasaysayan, ipagmalaki natin ang ating yamang palaisdaan,”added the governor.

Furthermore, he also ate the dishes which feature the produce of the aquaculture industry to promote the edibility of the said products.

Also, the newly elected officers of ISDA headed by its president Joselito Lacap vowed to boost the local fishery industry by applying modern technology and strategy. In his speech he also expressed his gratitude to the Department of Science and Technology for the storage plant and cooling facility they pledged which is expected to further the produce of the industry.

Bureau of Food and Aquatic Resources, non-government agencies and various national and local organizations also graced the said celebration. ###
