Bulacan gov, BLBC recognize Bulakenyo blood donors

CITY OF MALOLOS – In line with the celebration of Blood Month, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, together with the Bulacan Local Blood Council (BLBC), recognizes Bulakenyo blood donors during the 10th Gawad Parangal held at the Hiyas Pavilion, yesterday morning.

In his speech, the governor encouraged all the Bulakenyos to voluntarily donate blood and that an intensive information and education campaign must be executed for a better turn-out of blood donation in the province.

“Inaasahan ko na babaha ng dugo sa lalawigan sapagkat madami pang Bulakenyo ang magbibigay ng kanilang dugo para sa mas malusog na lalawigan,” Alvarado added.

Being the chairman of BLBC, Alvarado recognized 35 local government units, agencies, organizations in the category four or more mobile donation activity with at least 50 units output which include the municipalities of Angat, Balagtas, Marilao, Calumpit, Baliwag, Pandi, Hagonoy, Paombong, San Ildefonso, Sta. Maria and Bustos as well as Bulacan State University, Knights of Columbus and Jocker’s Food Industries among others.

Eighty-nine (89) individuals were also awarded Blood Galloners, Bulakenyos who were able to voluntarily shed blood in nine or more times.

Furthermore, 29 barangay captains from all over the province, together with Mayor Bartolome Ramos of Sta.Maria, Mayor Arnel Mendoza of Bustos and Mayor Anastacia Vistan of Plaridel were also conferred outstanding blood donors under the local chief executive category.

All the winners received plaques of recognition.

Also gracing the event was Department of Health’s (DOH) Assistant Secretary Enrique Tayag who challenged the Bulakenyos to further improve their blood donation for the year.

“Ang tagumpay ng lalawigan sa blood donation ay nasa mamamayan,” Tayag said.

All of the donated blood of the winners contributed to last year’s 23,111 collected blood units. ###
