Bulacan celebrates 24th Singkaban Fiesta

CITY OF MALOLOS-Bulakenyos will once again rejoice as they celebrate the weeklong Singkaban Fiesta, the mother of all fiestas in Bulacan, from September 8-15, 2011.

Anchored on the governor’s seven point agenda, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) will hold activities that address the needs of the Bulakenyos such as health services, employment, livelihood, and education, at the same time promoting the rich and colorful arts, culture and history of the province.

With the theme, “Bulacan: Masaganang Lalawigang Pinanday ng Kasaysayan at Kabayanihan” the celebration will kick off with a holy mass in front of the Capitol building and followed by a program to be attended by the top officials of the province headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando, the PGB employees, nongovernment agencies, local government units and many more.

The first day of Pistang Sining at Kalinangan ng Bulacan will be filled with arts, exhibits and public service programs. At 7:00 am, fiesta aficionados will witness the beautifully and artistically dressed four floats which depict the three republics in Bulacan and one from the PGB. The Parada ng Kasaysayan at Karosa will start from Barasoain Church to Capitol compound.

Also, a one-day Diskwento Caravan led by the Department of Trade and Industry and Provincial Cooperative and Economic Development will be held in front of Gat Blas Ople building from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, to sell basic and prime commodities from local distributors and Manila-based manufacturers at a discounted price.

It’s also a day for the traditional, folk fanatics as elementary and secondary students from all the schools in the province compete to relive the arts like kundiman, balagtasan, and katutubong sayaw in KBS Rewaynd to be held simultaneously at BSU for kundiman, in front of PGB for balagtasan and Tanghalan ng Sining at Kultura (Mini-Forest) for sayaw at 1:00 pm..

For jobseekers, the first On-line Registration for Recruitment of Workers under the Government-to-Government Scheme Program thru POEA and PESO region III will be held at Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on September 8, 9, and 10.

Moreover, Alvarado will lead the ribbon cutting of the weeklong exhibits which include Tatak Bulakenyo Trade Expo that showcases Tatak Bulakenyo products; Tatak Bulakenyo Negoskita which demonstrates the processes of fruit carving, paper making, etc.; Baro’t Hiyas ng Bulacan that showcases beautifully crafted and designed gowns, barongs and jewelries; Antigo Bulakenyo: First Bulacan Antique Show; Bulacan Travel Mart; Dakilang Bulakenyo Exhibit which features Jose Rizal and other Bulakenyo heroes like Francisco Balagtas, Marcelo H. Del Pilar, Pio Valenzuela, Mariano Ponce, Maximo Viola and the Women of Malolos; Lakan Sining (Painting Exhibit)which features local artists who excel in different forms of arts; Sining sa Hardin, a night of performance by local artists; and Noli Me Tangere which will be performed by Barasoain Kalinangan Foundation.###.
