Bulacan celebrates Araw ng mga Lingkod Bayan

CITY OF MALOLOS- The Himig ng mga Lingkod Bulakenyo 2011 grand finals opened this week’s continuous celebration of Singkaban Fiesta held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, in this city.

According to Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, showcasing the talents in music of government employees is also one way of showing their love for their land.

“Isang pagpapatunay sa katagang lalawigan ko’y ikaw, lingkod mo ako, tayo po ang mga lingkod ng ating lalawigan,” the governor said.

Twenty two contestants joined in the said individual singing contest, 16 came from the municipalities, four from national agencies and two from the water districts in Bulacan.

After the elimination round which was held last September 6, five of them were chosen and made it to the finals, which includes Angat, Bulakan, Plaridel, Obando, and a representative from the Department of Interior and Local Government-Bulacan.

This year’s Himig ng Lingkod Bulakenyo champ was Onie Reyes from the municipality of Obando who went home with P30,000 cash incentive and a plaque of appreciation, while the rest of the finalists received P 10,000 consolation prize and a plaque of appreciation.

The winners were chosen according to the following criteria: Intonation and Voice quality (30%); Harmony and Interpretation (30%); Projection and Audience Impact (30%); and Costume (10%).

Also, the 111th founding anniversary of the Commission on Civil Service was commemorated simultaneously.

“Ang pagbibigay ng kahit na isang araw na empleyado naman ang bida ay isang napakahalagang bagay, isa itong paraan ng pagpapadama ng kanilang kahalagahan,” said Atty. Karin Litz Zerna, Regional Director- DILG.

Zerna also said that two out of the nine outstanding government employees to be awarded by the Commission came from the province of Bulacan.

“It is because we want to cultivate morale, harmony and wellness in the workplace, gusto nating lalong ma-motivate yung mga lingkod publiko kaya tayo nagbibigay ng mga parangal, ” added Zerna.###
