Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado lauded the contribution of the new prides of Bulacan and encourages other Bulakenyos not to be hesitant to make their own niche in their respective fields.

This year’s awardees are Nemencio J. Concepcion for Agriculture, Dr. Calvin S. delos Reyes for Science And Technology, Dr. Norma L. Salcedo for Education, Alfredo Paulo D. Vargas for arts and culture, Dr. Teofredo T. Esguerra for health, Jorge Allan R. Tengco, for Entrepreneur, Rodolfo C. Kalalang for trade and industry, Dr. Elvira P. Galang for community service, Major Gen. Irineo C. Espino for public service, and Luisita “Luchi” Cruz-Valdez for professional.

The Provincial Planning and Development Office, awards secretariat, said that DNL awardees were chosen according to the following criteria: a real Bulakenyo, has excelled in his field more than others or many, his deeds made big impact for the province and/or country, acknowledged in his field by a prestigious award, education, family background, love of environment, participated in civic activities, church and/or community organization.

Moreover, the governor also said that the efforts and contributions of the unrenowned heroes should also be given apt recognition.

This year’s winners received medals and trophies of recognition.

Among the previous awardees of DNL were incumbent Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa, former president Corazon Aquino, Virgilio Almario, Joey de Leon, Richard Gomez, Dolphy, Regine Velasquez, Cheche Lazaro, Arnold Clavio, Shirley Halili Cruz, and Arnel T. Papa.
