CITY OF MALOLOS—The commemoration of the 113th anniversary of the First Philippine Republic became meaningful thru the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the Provincial Government of Bulacan and the Department of Education for the construction of 1,942 classrooms in the public schools in Bulacan.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Education Secretary Armin A. Luistro signed the MOA at the Capitol gymnasium yesterday and was witnessed by schools officials, teachers, and local officials that include congressman of each district and city and town mayors.

“ Sa pamamagitan ng kasunduang ito, makakahulagpos ang ating mga kabataan sa pagkaalipin ng kahirapan at kamangmangan dahil matutugunan na natin ang malaking kakulangan sa mga silid aralan para sa ating mga mag-aaral,” Alvarado said.

The governor added that Bulakenyos are grateful to President Benigno S. Aquino III for the said project.

Stated in the said memorandum of agreement is the provision of 1,942 classrooms for the public schools in the province, wherein DepEd will build classrooms equivalent to the 971 number of rooms that the PGB will build.

According to Luistro, in his 200 surprise visits to the different public schools in the country, he saw the condition of the classrooms and that the problem is indeed big.

“Through this undertaking, the students can now achieve what they want to achieve through new classrooms and educational facilities. I have already seen it for myself that our teachers are dedicated and students really wanted to learn. We just need to bring them classrooms and facilities,” dagdag pa ni Luistro.

DepEd secretary called the copperation of the elected officials to set aside politics and unite to provide quality education for the Bulakenyos. ###
