CITY OF MALOLOS-Bigger chance of landing a job in Korea awaits Bulakenyos as the registration for the 8th Employment Permit System-Test of Proficiency in Korean (EPS-TOPIK) kicked off yesterday and will run until February 9, 2012 in six venues including the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said this program will give an edge to aspiring Bulakenyo workers to get a job in Korea because according to Philippine Overseas Employment Association (POEA) those who are interested to pursue employment in the said country must have an active registration status in order to be included in the manpower pool for Korea.

“Sa buong Central Luzon sa Bulacan ginawa ito, ibig sabihin mas madaling puntahan ng mga Bulakenyo na hindi na kailangan pang lumuwas o lumayo, mas may pagkakataon tayo para makakuha ng exam na kinakailangan para makapagtrabaho sa Korea,” added Alvarado.

Elizabeth Alonzo, head of Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office said all job seekers who want to work in Korea under EPS must pass EPS-TOPIK, and only those who passed the test will be uploaded for transfer to the roster of available workers by submitting their job application for the EPS.

In order to qualify for the EPS-TOPIK scheduled on March 18, 2012, an applicant must be 18 years of age and not more than 38 years old on the date of exam, physically and mentally fit, must not have any record of conviction or imprisonment for a heinous crime, must have no record of deportation or departure orders from the Republic of Korea, must not be restricted from departure from the Philippines and must be registered with active status in the POEA Manpower Registry.

Interested applicants will need to bring valid I.D, two colored passport sized photos and a registration fee of P1,044. Registration venues include Manila, Tarlac, Baguio, Ilo-ilo and Davao.

Meanwhile, as clearly stated in the Memorandum of Understanding or MOU, passing the EPS-TOPIK does not guarantee employment in Korea but only inclusion on the available list of job seekers available for employment.

The venue for examination will be posted on March 6 and the result of the exam will be announced on March 30, 2012 at the POEA website, www.poea.gov.ph.

This event was conducted by the Human Resource Development Service of Korea in cooperation with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and the Provincial Government of Bulacan. ###
