CITY OF MALOLOS— Realizing his vision to promote longevity of life among the Bulakenyos, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado led the launching of the Nutrition Month at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium yesterday in this city.
Alvarado said that the event was anchored in the theme “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain” in accordance to the Presidential Decree 491 or Nutrition Act of the Philippines.
“Layunin ng pagdiriwang ang patuloy na gisingin ang kamalayan ng publiko tungkol sa kahalagahan ng wastong nutrisyon. Ngayong taon, lalo pang pinaigting ang kampanya upang mahikayat ang lahat ng sektor ng ating lipunan na kumain ng gulay para sa dagdag na sustansya sa katawan at upang maiwasan ang mga sakit tulad ng diabetes at kanser,” added Alvarado.
Activities that are also included in the month-long celebration are food festivals that will be participated by the towns and cities in the province, Malunggay Cooking Contest which will be composed by competing Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon and Mother Leaders, poster and slogan-making contests and information forum for the students, and the Kongreso ng mga Panadero for the awareness campaign that will be participated by the 800 bakers in the province.
The event will conclude with an awarding of outstanding municipality, barangay and Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon who greatly contributed to the nutrition programs. ###
