August 15, non-working day in Bulacan in celebration of its Foundation Day

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said August 15, Wednesday has been declared by President Benigno Aquino III as a special non-working day in the province of Bulacan in commemoration of its 434th Foundation Day.

Alvarado said that the declaration is based from The New Provincial Administrative Code of Bulacan, Chapter II, Section 14, Foundation Day and Section 27, The Provincial Legal Holidays and by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 443, signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Bulacan will lead the commemoration of its foundation day with a holy mass in the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium at 7:30 in the morning to be followed by the offering of flowers to Gen. Gregorio Del Pilar’s monument by Alvarado, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando and the members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The governor said the province took a vital role in the past while today; it is at the forefront of making history.
Based on the research conducted by the Center for Bulacan Studies, Bulacan was established as a province on August 15, 1578. ###
