Bulacan celebrates 114th Malolos Congress anniversary

CITY OF MALOLOS- Two cabinet members, Secretary Florencio B. Abad of the Department of Budget and Management and Secretary Armin A. Luistro of the Department of Education (DepEd) will take part in the celebration of the 114th Anniversary of the Malolos Congress come September 15, 2012, 7 a.m. at Barasoain Church in this city.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that looking back and giving importance to history is relevant in strengthening the foundation of the province.

“Hindi natin binabalikan ang nakaraan upang ibalik ang lungkot at sariwain ang hapdi ng kahapon, kundi nais nating alalahanin ang dahilan kung paanong nabubuhay tayo ng malaya ngayon, nais nating buhayin muli sa ating mga puso ang matinding pagnanais ng ating mga bayani na ibigay sa mga mamamayan ang nararapat na para sa kanila, sa ating paglingon sa nakaraan, nawa ay mabuhay at hindi na mawala sa ating mga isipan ang tunay na diwa ng pagmamahal sa bayan,” Alvarado added.

Following the wreathe laying in honor of Pres. Emilio Aguinaldo is the signing of the declaration of unity and action for global warming and climate change by the representatives of the leagues of governors, mayors and barangays.

Also, the newly renovated Barasoain Church Historical Museum will be inaugurated to be led by Gov. Alvarado, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando, Sec. Abad, Sec. Luistro, representatives of the districts of Bulacan, Mayor Christian Natividad, Vice Mayor Gilbert Gatchalian, Ma. Serena I. Diokno, head of the National Historical Commission, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and city and town mayors.

Other invited guests as are senior citizens, students, teachers, non-government organizations, and other sectors in Bulacan.

Meanwhile, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, a Graduate Education Association of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines or GEACCUP Regional General Assembly will be held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

To seal the weeklong celebration of the rich and colorful cultural heritage of Bulacan, the annual Dangal ng Lipi Awards which recognizes outstanding Bulakenyos will be held at 6 p.m. at the Hiyas Pavilion.###
