CITY OF MALOLOS- Pupils from daycare centers and children from seven orphanages will take the center stage come October 18, 2012 as the Provincial Children’s Congress kicks off at the the Hiyas Pavilion, nine o’clock in the morning in this city as part of the 20th National Children’s Month celebration.

The event carries the theme “Bright Child ay Siguruhin, Responsableng Pamamahayag ay Palaganapin” which according to the Council for the Welfare of Children aims to encourage media practitioners to be more responsible in releasing news that will help children become bright for the future.

Bulacan Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office head Rowena Joson-Tiongson said that the event is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No.267 that bids to show the important role of children in the society.

Children from the 21 municipalities of Bulacan will showcase their talents in different fields such as Calisthenics which will be composed of 12-18 members per group and will be held at the Hiyas Pavilion; Solo Singing Contest to be held in Mariano Ponce Hall; Solo Drawing Contest to be held in Local Governance Function 1, and Solo Poem Reciting in Maximo Viola and Isidoro Torres Hall.

Further, children from the “Bethlehem House of Bread”, “Bayan at Yaman ni San Martin de Porres Inc.”, “Akapin Inc., Gilead Center”, “Bethany House Sto. Niño Orphanage”, “Nazareth Home for Street Children”, and “Bahay Ampunan nina Jesus, Maria at Jose” will also show their talents to entertain the guests.

Gov. Wilhelmino M.Sy-Alvarado will also lead the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected Philippine Association of Social Welfare Inc.-Bulacan Chapter.

The governor also said that winners in the provincial congress will be the official representatives in the regional level come October 26, 2012 where Bulacan will also be the host province.
