CITY OF MALOLOS- Aiming to return the favor to voluntary blood donors and partners, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) will once again recognize their noble efforts through the annual Awarding Ceremony of Blood Galloners and Blood Partners come November 13, 2012, 7:30 in the morning at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

Among the awardees who shared with the end of helping fellow Bulakeños that are in need of blood are 140 blood galloners, five Local Chief Executives, two highest local government units (LGUs) in blood collection, the city of San Jose del Monte and the municipality of Plaridel, 26 LGUs/Partners, and 149 Certificates of Appreciation which will be hosted again by the Bulacan Local Blood Council.

Dr. Jocelyn Gomez, Public Health Officer II said the said event will be held in observance of the National Blood Donor’s Month which aims to build public awareness of the need for quality and safe blood, honor and recognize blood donors, and encourage regular blood donation both at hospital and community level.

“Nag-oobserve tayo ng National Blood Donor’s Month pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1021 dated July 9, 1997 and the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the National Blood Service Act of 1994. Kaya naman taun-taon nadadagdagan ang ating donors, at ‘yung iba nagiging suki na natin so ginagawa natin ang pagkilala sa kanila once a year para naman lalo nilang maisip na mahalaga talaga ang pagdodonate ng dugo at mahalaga sila,” said Dr. Gomez.

Meanwhile, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, being a blood donor himself and a recipient of his first National Sandugo Award as Outstanding Local Government Executive last July 2012 believes in the importance of blood donating.

“Sa bawat dugo na naibibigay natin, may buhay tayong naililigtas, may pamilyang napapasaya at mga taong nabibigyan ng panibagong pag-asa. Kapag nagbigay tayo, ‘wag nating iisipin na nawalan tayo, hindi ba’t mas magandang ikaw ang nagbigay, ibig sabihin ikaw ang meron kesa ikaw ang binigyan, ibig sabihin ikaw ang nangangailangan at ikaw ang may banta sa kalusugan,” said the governor.

Alvarado also emphasized the increasing need of blood donors not only in the province but in the whole country as well.

“Dahil sa mga patuloy na nagdodonate, ‘pag panahon ng emergency, may mga nakahanda nang dugo sa blood center, pero hindi pa ito sapat sa dami ng nangangailangan. We need more donors, more blood, and as we recognize these new heroes, para sa’kin mga bayani sila dahil isang kabayanihan ang hangarin na makapagligtas ng buhay, sana tularan sila ng mas marami pa,” Alvarado added.

Sen. Loren Legarda is expected to grace the event among other special guests.

Also, the Pandi Blood Council will take their oath of office as part of the awarding ceremony. ###
