Gov. Alvarado lauded the efforts of blood galloners and partners in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS- “Sa panahon ng digmaan, dinilig ng dugo ang lalawigan ng Bulacan sa pamamagitan ng sandugo sama-samang naabot ang kapayapaan. No manifestation of generosity is more expressive than the donation of one’s blood. Salamat dahil hindi kayo naging maramot sa pangangailangan ng iba.”

This is what Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said during the Awarding Ceremony for Blood Galloners and Partners with the theme “Every Blood Donor is a Hero ”hosted by the Bulacan Local Blood Council yesterday at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

Dr. Jocelyn Gomez of Public Health proudly presented the 178 awardees where 140 of which are those who donated more than nine times, 28 donated more than four times, four outstanding local chief executive who were also conferred in the National Sandugo Awards namely Mamerto Cervania, Barangay Captain of Bulihan, Plaridel; Raul Gatuz, Barangay Captain of Tabang, Plaridel; Bernardo Medina, Barangay Captain of Tungkong Mangga, City of San Jose del Monte; and the hall of famer Barangay Captain Gerald Constantino of Sta. Ines, Plaridel, Gov. Alvarado being the Outstanding Local Government Executive and this year’s bronze awardee Nelson Sta. Maria, a native of Norzagaray and currently residing at the City of San Jose del Monte who donated 28 times.

“Ang pagbibigay po ng dugo para sa akin ay isang bokasyon, isang panatang makapagdugtong ng buhay. Hindi ko inaangkin ang karangalang ito sapagkat inire-represent po nito ang lahat ng blood donors. Nawa po ang Diyos ang magpala sa ating lahat,” said Sta. Maria.

The City of SJDM and municipality of Plaridel were also recognized as the highest local government units (LGUs) in blood collection with their Mayors, Reynaldo San Pedro and Anastacia Vistan respectively were also conferred as outstanding local chief executives.

“Ito’y walang iniba sa paghahandog ng dugo at buhay noong panahon na ipinaglalaban pa natin ang kalayaan, kayo rin ay mga bayani dahil sa inyong pagbibigay ng walang hinihinging kapalit. Sabi nga the gift of love is a gift of life. Boluntaryo n’yong ibinibigay ang inyong mga dugo upang dugtungan ang buhay ng iba, kahit hindi n’yo kilala at ang kabayanihang ito ay hindi masusuklian ng kahit na anong halaga, kayo ay manatiling inspirasyon para sa aming mga naglilingkod,” the governor added.

Sen. Loren Legarda, the event’s guest speaker also acknowledged the importance of each and every donor.

“All of you whether in cc or in gallons na nagbigay ng dugo are heroes in your own right. Hindi biro ang magbigay ng dugo at hindi rin nauubusan ng nangangailangan ng dugo and I’m very proud to be in the middle of heroes who exhibit humanitarian act. Continue the good deeds you are doing,” said the lady senator.

The Pandi Blood Council also took their oath of office before Gov. Alvarado as part of the awarding ceremony.###
