CITY OF MALOLOS- Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado enumerated his administration’s accomplishments in environment protection and rehabilitation during his State of the Province Address (SOPA), Tuesday afternoon at the Bulwagang Senador Benigno S. Aquino Jr. inside the Capitol Building in this city.
According to Alvarado, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) had constructed 85 flood control projects amounting to more or less 138 million pesos; 194 projects for the cementation and improvement of the roads worth approximately 602 million pesos and 100 million pesos worth of 53 road asphalting projects.
Also in line with Alvarado’s efforts to combat illegal logging activities, the governor issued an executive order and organized Provincial Multi-Sectoral Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force; and planted 92 thousand trees in the urban and upland areas in Bulacan.
The second termer governor also banned the use and sale of non-biodegradable plastic bags, styrofoam and other similar products used as packaging materials in the province.
Aside from faithfully monitoring the waste management of all the factories in Bulacan with the participation of various sectors, the provincial chief executive also strengthened the campaign for the rehabilitation of the Marilao-Meycauayan-Obando River System.
“Maging ang Angat Dam Watershed Area ay pinangangalagaan din. Patunay na anumang suporta ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan para sa kaunlaran ng mga industriya dito sa Bulacan, hindi rin naman nito hinahayaang masakripisyo ang kalikasan,“ Alvarado said. ###
