CITY OF MALOLOS – In his State of the Province Address (SOPA) last July 2, 2013 at the Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. Hall, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado shared the efforts of the Provincial Government of Bulacan to incessantly nurture the province’s culture and history during his first term.

The governor said that the province of Bulacan is one of those who fought hard for the country’s freedom and this should remain essential to everyone especially to the Bulakeño youths.

Alvarado also reported the continuous implementation of programs that aims to preserve Bulacan’s rich cultural heritage and history such as the Kundiman, Balagtasan at Sayaw or KBS Rewaynd, Konsyerto ng Artistang Bulakenyo and Parada ng Kasaysayan wherein 1,000 artists in the field of painting, singing and dancing among others participated and 18, 000 audiences attended.

The Summer Art Workshop through the Panday Sining and Musmusikahan was also held wherein 1,000 individuals participated for the enhancement of Bulakeños’ artistic skills in band music.

Moreover, 400 painters took part in a bid to promote Bulakeño artists and relive the importance of visual arts thru the Exhibition Series and Dakilang Bulakenyo Exhibit.

The governor added that competitions like Lakan at Lakambini ng Bulakan and Hari at Reyna ng Bulacan were held in order for the province to participate in the national competitions and showcase Bulacan’s talents. These were joined by 131 contestants from the 21 municipalities and three cities of the province.
