Bulacan’s blood service facility lauded

CITY OF MALOLOS- National Center for Health Facility Development (NCHFD) Director Juanito Taleon lauded the blood service facility of the Provincial Government of Bulacan and its health partners during the 2013 Awarding Ceremonies of Blood Galloners and Partners at the Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center yesterday morning in this city.

Taleon said that Bulacan is among the leading local government units with the best local blood service facility.

He also announced that the Department of Health (DOH) will give the Bulacan Medical Center a new CT-Scan to further improve the quality of health care being provided to the Bulakenyos.

Meanwhile, during the awarding ceremony, the City of San Jose del Monte received the highest blood collection award wherein they were also able to conduct mobile blood donation four times a month.

The town of Plaridel was also recognized as the local government unit with 100% barangay participation.

This year, there are 10 awardees for four or more mobile blood donation with 50 units of blood per MBD category, 109 galloners and 98 blood partners.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado hailed the efforts of the blood donors and volunteers and considers them as “modern day heroes”.

He said that donating blood is an unselfish way of showing love to mankind just like what the Lord Jesus Christ did.

“Ang dugo ay kakambal ng buhay. Dugo ang nagpapatingkad sa kulay ng buhay at maging ang kasaysayan natin ay isinulat sa dugo,” the governor added

Also part of the ceremony was the signing of the memorandum of agreement wherein the DOH through the NCHFD granted the PGB a P2.8 million assistance fund for the operation of the Bulacan Provincial Blood Service Facilty. ###
