CITY OF MALOLOS- Bulacan was able to save a million peso as 5, 000 assorted fruit-bearing trees seedlings were planted voluntarily in the stretch of Bayabas River at Barangay Bayabas, Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT), by more than 600 stakeholders from different companies and local government units in the province.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that through this event anchored on the theme “Kalikasan at Kapaligiran ng Bulacan, Patuloy na Kalingain at Pangalagaan,” the government was able to save a huge amount of money since the initial 5, 000 seedlings that were planted today were donated by Holcim Philippines.

He added that it was made possible through the collective efforts from the Bulacan Aggregates Producer Association (BAPA), crushing plant operators, regular permit holders, business establishments, people in the community and local government officials.

DRT Mayor Ronaldo T. Flores added that it was a great privilege for their town to be chosen as the venue for the kick-off ceremony of this province-wide tree-planting activity.

Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Officer Eugenio Payongayong said that they are aiming to plant more than 60, 000 seedlings on the other parts of the province.

Among the participants in the event are known business establishments such as SM City Marilao, SM City Baliwag, Waltermart Plaridel, Waltermart Guiguinto, UPPC, Mighty Corp., Phil. Spring Water, and HOCPO Feeds. ###
