CITY OF MALOLOS- More than 70 local government officials will gather at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center on June 21 at one o’clock in the afternoon to discuss about solid waste management plans of each cities and municipalities in Bulacan.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that it is part of his 7-Point Agenda to keep the balance between development and protection of environment.
“As we move to greater heights, we need to make sure that we are able to protect our natural resources. Through this seminar, we are expecting to produce the ten-year plan for solid waste management and to come up with the best solution for garbage problems,” the governor said.
He added that LGU officials are expected to take the lead in the implementation of solid waste management and environmental conservation that will maximize the utilization of valuable resources.
Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Officer Eugenio Payongayong said that aside from planning, the seminar will also tackle “Waste Analysis Characterization Study” and “Establishment of Materials Recovery Facilities.”
“Anuman ang naitayong istruktura ninuman ay nagmula sa kalikasan. Kung kaya’t marapat lamang tayo ay lumingon at magbalik ng pagkakautang natin sa ating kalikasan. Sapagkat may responsibilidad tayo sa susunod na henerasyon na mag-iwan ng mundo na kayang sustinehan ang pamumuhay,” added Payongayong.
He also said that the orientation will be administered by Theresa Calo, Waste Management Consultant of the City of Mandaluyong.
The seminar is in accordance to R.A. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management which was implemented on January 26, 2001. ###
