1, 000 street dancers to make noise along Bulacan streets

CITY OF MALOLOS- Bulakenyos are preparing for an explosion of culture and colors as approximately 1, 000 of the province’s best street dancers are set to compete on “Indakan sa Kalye”, Best of the Best Street Dancers competition happens on September 14, 1 o’ clock in the afternoon in this city.

Featuring different festivals in Bulacan, the said contest aims to promote the rich and colorful culture, tradition, tourism and products of the said province.

According to Provincial Youth, Sports, Education, Arts, Culture and Tourism Officer Elizabeth Alonzo, 24 groups will compete and represent their municipality/city’s local festival like Halamanan sa Guiguinto, Halamang Dilaw in Marilao, Fertility Festival of Obando and Carabao festival in Pulilan.

Alonzo added, the said street dance will start at the Basilica Minore de Immaculada Concepcion in this city and will end in front of the Bulacan Provincial Capitol while the showdown of the groups will take place at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, 3:00 pm also in this city.

Winners will receive trophies and Php 75, 000 for the first place, Php50, 000 and Php 30, 000 for the second and third place and two consolation prizes amounting to Php 10, 000.

In addition, special awards will also be given to Best in Street Dancing and Best in Costume wherein aside from trophies, the special awardees will also take home Php 5, 000 for each award.
Subsequent to Indakan sa Kalye, more or less 3, 000 runners are expected to run for the Singkaban Night Run at 4 in the afternoon.

Intended to promote running as a good alternative for health and wellness, the said activity is intentionally set in the afternoon till night for the convenience and comfort of the participants.

The starting point will be in front of the Provincial Capitol wherein 3K, 5K and 10K runners will run along Mc Arthur Highway passing Bulacan Polytechnic College, Humel Heritage Homes and Metropolis Home Subdivision.

First three finishers will receive P 15, 000 pesos, P10, 000 and P 5, 000 respectively.
Singkaban Night Run is a joint activity of the Provincial Government of Bulacan and Globe Telecom. ###
