CITY OF MALOLOS— Bulacan contingent left the province last Saturday at 5:30 in the afternoon to perform medical mission, bring relief goods and help in the clearing operation to highly devastated places in Samar.

The contingent consists of 25 doctors from the 22 municipalities and cities, 28 public health nurses, eight PNPs, seven rescue staffs, and six employees from the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

“Our team travelled 20 hours from Bulacan to Matnog, Sorsogon then from there, sumakay sila ng roro at nagbiyahe ng 8-10 oras papuntang Borongan, Samar. As of today they are already rendering services to the victims of Yolanda, ‘yun kasi ang mahalaga, ‘yung iisang boses lamang tayo na kikilos at tutulong,” Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said.

According to the Provincial Public Health Office, the contingent rode in the two buses from German Espiritu Liners and has a convoy of four ambulances from Pandi, Guiguinto, Plaridel and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, four trucks loaded with 30,000 packs of relief goods and medicines amounting to almost P2 million and a gas tanker for mobilization and actual operation.

“Ito ang kailangan nila ngayon, pagkain at gamot kaya kahit sa ganitong paraan sana mapadama natin sa kanila na may karamay sila. Marami nang tumutulong, maraming nagbibigay pero marami pa rin ang nangangailangan kaya patuloy tayong gagawa ng paraan para maibsan ‘yung hirap at sakit na nararanasan nila,” Alvarado said.

Based on the records of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, financial donations as of today has already amounted to P2,647,017.50; P2,064,017.50 are in cash and the remaining P583,000.00 are in check.

The contingent is expected to render their service for a week and is expected to be back in Bulacan by Monday. ###
