CITY OF MALOLOS – One hundred sixteen informal settlers were relocated to their new homes in Pandi Heights in Sitio Bitukang Manok in Barangay Cacarong Matanda, Pandi yesterday, January 21, 2014.

According to Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, the said housing project of the National Housing Authority and Provincial Government of Bulacan is part of helping almost 3,000 families who reside in places considered as high risk danger zone.

“Hindi dapat na may informal settlers sa dakilang lalawigan ng Bulacan. Charity begins at home. Tatanggap tayo ng relocatees mula sa ibang lugar subalit dapat unahin natin ang ating mga kalalawigan lalo na ‘yung mga nakatira along geo-hazard areas tulad ng sa gilid ng ilog, bangin at iba pang kanal,” said Alvarado.

The qualified beneficiaries will have their land titles after 30 years.

Meanwhile, organizers headed by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office also distributed bags of groceries to the informal settlers.

Prior to this, more than 100 families were already transferred in Pandi Heights.

Other towns that will also benefit from the Angat Riverbank Settlements are Baliwag, Norzagaray, San Rafael, Hagonoy, Calumpit, Angat and Paombong. ###
