Bulacan receives 10 health excellence awards

HEALTH EXCELLENCE. Gov . Wilhelmino M. CITY OF MALOLOS- Recognizing the efforts in giving the best health services to Bulakenyos, Department of Health (DOH) Region III conferred the local government units in Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado several health excellence awards.

Alvarado received recognitions for the province of Bulacan as the Local Government Unit Reaching the Target Treatment Success Rate in TB Control and Best Effort in Health Emergency Management and Response for Typhoon Yolanda Victims during the 2nd Central Luzon Excellence Awards for Health held at the Holiday Inn, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, Tuesday morning.

He said that through the constant treatment and medical assistance given by the provincial government of Bulacan, a 92% success rate or 2,348 tuberculosis cases were cured out of 2,538 reported.

“We are happy to know that our health advocacies and programs are being implemented effectively throughout the entire province. These awards serve as an inspiration to continuously give the best health services to our fellow Bulakenyos,” he added.

DOH also highly appreciated the voluntary relief and medical mission of Bulacan in Samar which was composed of 24 doctors, one dentist, 32 nurses, five lay rescuers, three social workers, six truck drivers, two tanker drivers, 13 police security personnel, five bus drivers, four ambulance drivers, two PPAO staff and six support groups.

The governor also said that other municipalities in the province also bagged recognitions such as Outstanding Implementor on Maternal Health Program for Bulakan Rural Health Unit (RHU); Outstanding Implementor on Mental Health Program for Plaridel and San Rafael RHUs; Outstanding Healthy Lifestyle Advocacy Award (School Category) for Sophia School in Meycauayan City; 2013 Best Contemporary Approach in Malaria for San Miguel; and Three-in-One Accredited Facility Award for the RHUs of Balagtas, Bustos and Pulilan.

Alvarado also lauded the awardees for demonstrating hard work, commitment and excellence in their respective communities. ###
