Bulakenya from SJDM receives Natatanging Babae 2014 award

CITY OF MALOLOS- Rosalia Cervantes from the City of San Jose del Monte was hailed as the Natatanging Babae 2014 in the recently concluded Gawad Medalyang Ginto of the Provincial Government of Bulacan held at the Hiyas Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

Aside from her, six other women were recognized in the 20th year of giving recognition to outstanding women in the province including Evelyn Lipana from San Ildefonso as Matagumpay na Babaeng Mangangalakal, Julita Cristobal from Norzagaray as Matagumpay na Ginang ng OFW, Josefina Concepcion also from San Ildefonso as Matagumpay na Babaeng Makakalikasan, Trisha Carmela Santos from Bocaue as Huwarang Kabataang Babae sa Pamumuno, and the Matagumpay na Konsehong Pambayan para sa Kababaihan of Norzagaray under the sectoral awards category.

Meanwhile, the Pinagkaisang Lakas ng Kababaihan o PILAK from Pandi was hailed as the Natatanging Samahan ng Kababaihan.

“Sa pagkakadeklara ng Marso bilang Buwan ng Kababaihan ay ating binibigyang parangal at pagkilala ang kalagayan ng mga babae sa lipunan, ating pinararangalan ang mga kababaihang nagpamalas ng katangi-tanging husay, galing at katalinuhan na naghatid sa kanya sa tagumpay at nagsilbing huwaran sa maraming kababaihan na lalong pagbutihin ang kanilang mga gawain at hangarin na marating ang katuparan ng kanilang mga pangarap,” Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said.

Winners received cash incentives, trophies and emergency whistles with necklace.

Alvarado said that women today are more empowered and are actively contributing in attaining progress in the society.

“Ayon po sa World Economic Forum, among the global gender gap it seems that the Philippines is no. 5 among nations that has improved in the area of gender inequality, hindi na po matatawaran ang nagagawa ng kababaihan sa ating panahon, may kalayaan nang makisangkot ang kababaihan sa kaunlarang pulitika, ekonomiya, pangkalingang panlipunan at sa marami pang aspeto kaya masasabi nating handa na sa pagtugon sa tawag ng panahon ang ating kababaihan,” Alvarado added.

The said awards ceremony is in line with the observance of the National Women’s Month in accordance to Proclamation No. 224 and 227 and the Women’s Month in Bulacan that was set in 1996 through Executive Order No. 96-07 and Board Resolution No. 215.

“Magpugay po tayo sa pantay na pagkakataon at karapatang tinatamasa ng ating mga kababaihan, maging malaya tayong magpahayag at magpamalas ng ating kabuluhan sa lipunan,” Alvarado said. ###
