CITY OF MALOLOS – Despite the stormy weather, Department of Local and Interior Government Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas joined thousands of Bulakenyos in the commemoration of the 116th Anniversary of Malolos Congress at the Barasoain Church, early this morning, wherein he admired the rapid development of the province.

Roxas, the guest of honor of the commemorative celebration, praised Bulacan for its progressive development and for receiving numerous recognitions such as the top place for the Local Government Units with Highest Gross Income based on the annual financial reports of the local government of the Commission on Audit.

The DILG sec also admired the rich history, culture and artistry of Bulacan in the celebration of the Singkaban Festival 2014 that aims to deepen the awareness of all Bulakenyos regarding the significance of Malolos Congress.

Meanwhile, Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvardo said the revolutionary congress of Malolos which played a significant role in our country’s struggle for freedom and had been established more than a century ago should remain in our hearts to guide the progress of the nation.

Roxas was joined by Alvarado and Police Chief Supt. Raul Petrasanta in the wreath laying ceremony at the statue of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo for his contribution as the president of the First Philippine Republic.
