CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Agriculture Office shows their enthusiastic support to the East West Seed Philippines’ (EWPH) three-day event with various activities intended to improve the vegetables consumption of the Filipinos, happening this November 27-29, 2014 in San Rafael, Bulacan.

Known as one of the provinces with largest suppliers of vegetables in Metro Manila, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the provincial government is very supportive to the activity that will help Bulakenyos in the production of crops and vegetables and in building a healthier community.

“As a partner in vegetable production, sinusuportahan natin ang magandang hangarin ng East-West, alam naman natin ang sustansyang binibigay nito sa ating kalusugan at ang potensyal na lalo pang lumaki ang kita ng ating mga kalalawigan,” said Alvarado.
According to EWSP National Sales and Marketing Manager Gerry Domingo, they lined up different activities for the three-day event that will give knowledge to hundreds of farmers in planting vegetable crops.

“Sa first day 'yung ating Farm Eco Tour, we showcase new and exciting varieties of vegetables like watermelon, melon, papaya and many more. Dumalo dito ang leading stores like Rustan’s, SM and Robinsons and 'yung mga leading chef in the country,” said Domingo.

He also added that the semi finals of the Pinakbet Festival Day will be held on the second day where 17 schools from Luzon joined the cooking competition in making the best Pinakbet.

“We want our fellow Filipino to become healthy, this is our drive,” Domingo added.
Meanwhile, Farmer Heroes Day will be held on its third day where over 200 farmers are expected to attend the event to learn different techniques on planting crops with emphasis on manual practices and to gain information about various vegetables that can be planted in the Philippines.###
