CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Epidemiology & Surveillance Unit of the Provincial Public Health Office noted a 43% decrease in reported dengue cases in the province as compared to the same period last year.

Dengue Surveillance of PESU accounted 1,319 reported dengue cases from January 1 - July 30 2016 that were gathered from different Disease Reporting Units of the province consisting of the government (54%) and private (42%) hospitals, and RHUs (4%).

Further, 89% were admitted and 11% were out-patient cases. Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado reminded the Bulakenyos not to be complacent but to continue cleaning their surroundings and be more vigilant when it comes to dengue symptoms.

“Bumaba nga ang kaso ng dengue, pero marami pa ring nagkakadengue kaya hindi tayo dapat kumampante. Madaming nangyayari sa paligid, pero wag nating kalimutan ang mga banta sa kalusugan ng mamamayan na kahit tayo sa sarili nating bahay ay kayang-kaya nating solusyunan,” Alvarado said.

Based on the PESU records, municipalities and cities with the highest number of reported dengue cases were Plaridel with 152, San Miguel with 141, City of San Jose del Monte with 113, City of Malolos with 99 and Baliuag and Santa Maria with 90.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health through the PPHO and the Department of Education (DepEd) launched the vaccination against dengue last March to grade 4 pupils, ages nine and up and are enrolled for the year 2015-2016.

The 61,361 target pupils that were already given vaccines will receive another shot after six months to ensure their protection against the deadly disease.

Next schedule of vaccination will be on October, November, December 2016 and April, May and June 2017.
