Agri-based organically grown components trump other ingredients in Kalutong Bulakenyo

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulakenyos will be encouraged to go organic after tasting the food that will be prepared in the upcoming cook fest dubbed as “Kalutong Bulakenyo” on September 13, 2016, 8:00 am at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

Contenders from the two categories namely Samahan ng Kababaihan sa Nayon and students, who made their way to the finals, will showcase their culinary skills and creativity in concocting dishes using agri-based organically grown ingredients.

In an hour’s time, the contenders should be able to prepare, cook and present their dishes based on the menu given by the organizers.

According to the Provincial Agriculture’s Office, the participants are reminded to bring their own cooking utensils, gas stove and other tools used in the food preparation as well as self protecting gears like face mask, hair net and apron.

Dishes will be rated according to palatability or flavour, taste and blending; nutritive value; preparation; and presentation.

Winners for each category will receive a certificate of recognition and cash prizes amounting to P15,000 for the first place, P10,000 for the second place and P7,000 for the third place.

Also, a special award such as Best in Presentation will be awarded for the students category wherein the winner will receive a certificate of recognition and cash incentive amounting to P3,000.

Renowned cook Chef Boy Logro will lead the board of judges.

Prior to this, the elimination round was held from August 23-24, 2016.
