Dangal ng Lipi recognizes notable Bulakenyo modern-day heroes

CITY OF MALOLOS – Noteworthy contributions and invaluable successes of Bulakenyo modern-day heroes did not go unnoticed as the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Dangal ng Lipi Awards is set to recognize them on September 15, 2015 at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that these people deserve the recognition because their stories of struggles and success in their chosen fields have inspired a lot and made a difference in the lives of Bulakenyos and Filipinos.

“We could not be prouder for our fellow Bulakenyos who will be recognized in the upcoming DNL Awards because their good and excellent deeds do not only highlight their individual excellence but the brilliance of Bulakenyos as a whole,” the governor said.

According to Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), DNL secretariat, the nominees underwent a thorough screening process for the following categories: public service, professional, community service, entrepreneur, education, Science and technology, arts and culture, trade and industry, health, agriculture, sports, Bulakenyo Expatriate and Tanging Bulakenyo.

Meanwhile, the Tanging Bulakenyo, the highest award to be given to a Bulakenyo by the PGB, will be awarded to a nominee who excels in any of the awards categories stated above and with an outstanding contribution to the society.

DNL awardees will receive medals and trophies of recognition.

Among the previous DNL awardees were former DFA Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario who was recognized in 2014 as Tanging Dangal, Maria Susana “Toots” V. Ople, Vincent “Chot” P. Reyes, the late and former President Corazon Aquino, the late Sec. Blas Ople, executive secretaries Alberto Romulo and Paquito Ochoa, Jr., journalists Arnold Clavio and Cheche Lazaro, and entertainers Joey de Leon, Richard Gomez, Dolphy, and Regine Velasquez.
The selection and conferment of the outstanding Bulakenyo started in 1974, known as the Natatanging Bulakenyo Award.
